The word “sculpture” is of Chinese-Vietnamese origin. “Sculptor” is carved, broadly, sculptures are called things. Taking a knife to mark something is called carving. Thus sculpture means using hard tools such as metal (chisel, knife …) impacting hard materials such as stone, wood, bone, ivory to create works of art. Thus, the concept of sculpture here is also derived from the way of forming shapes on materials.
Artisans will use specialized objects to etch, grind away the shaping parts that have been created beforehand or can be assembled with some other components. However there are two great schools of sculpture that are Carved and Embossed.
